Make Room for Growth

PM Custom started in 2007 but didn’t get into gear until 2008 with a happenstance listing on Etsy for a coat rack I had designed and fabricated years before and was hanging on the wall behind me in my then new office. I’d heard about Etsy and was trying to come up with something to list. I took a shot of the coat rack and listed it. It was sold before the following Monday.

The site has been up and down for years as Beatrice and I have navigated full time jobs, family and life. Etsy, a company that was very small shop forward, went from combining with the likes of West Elm to produce curated print media that incorporated hand made items like my racks and candle sticks to being a second rate Amazon, requesting that producers offer free shipping. Those changes on top of raising commissions, adding additional charges and allowing cheap commercial mass produced items made it a lot easier for me to close my shop to concentrate on my day job.

After 15 years of doing a job that I’m starting to not enjoy, Beatrice and I have decided to work together on this project.
